Colonel Raymond B. Hayden named Old Grand Dad bourbourn after his grandfather, Basil Hayden. Basil was Known for making bourbourn with a higher percentage of rye, and today Old Grand Dad is made from Jim Beam's higher rye bourbourn mash bill of 63% corn, 27% rye, and 10% malted barley.
